Make your own Simpson character

Have you ever wanted to see what you will look like if you ever get to be Simpson character?  The Simpsons, an animated series about a dysfunctional family of the same name, are very popular in our  culture.  This reason alone is enough for us to want to have our own Simpsonized character.  I fired up Google and the first thing that appeared is http://simpsonizeme.com/ which like the Subversive Chicken is sponsored by Burger King.

The interface is Flash-based and worked out well.  There were no hang ups, long processing time or lousy pop-ups that came out.  Below is a sample screen shot of my own face’s Simpsonized version:

The categories like face, hair styles, body type and accessories are on the left side.  The choices are all scrollable on the middle part while the real-time output is on the right side.  Overall, the interface is neat and easy to pick up for kids.  A great  online treat for personal or family use.  You can also use this to create your own cool messenger avatar.

Another website that offers this same functionality is the official movie’s website: http://www.simpsonsmovie.com

To start making your own characters, click the “Create your own Simpson’s Avatar” button located at the upper portion:

This website is also Flash-based but it works like a Wizard.  The top part is the main category while the bottom part are the choices.  There is no create from your own uploaded picture unlike the first website.  This means you will need to start from scratch to be able to make your own character.  It still is a lot of fun without that feature though.  On the plus side, you can print a DVD cover using your own character’s picture via the website.

Flickr users who tagged their pictures “Simpsonized” are also available here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/simpsonized/

Here you will see other people’s Simpsonized photos.

To sum up, either simpsonizeme.com or simpsonsmovie.com are good choices to make your own Simpson version of anyone.  You can do edits and saves and you can also export the picture so you can download it like an ordinary file.  The downside is that since these are websites, you will not be able to use it offline.

I also found it easier to make someone’s Simpsonized picture if I have a mug shot picture of that person.  This is not fun without sharing this to others.  Make it your own messenger avatars or use it as greeting cards for special occasions.  This is a cool and unique way to amuse your friends and family!
